Thomas Ingenlath has 24
years of experience within the automotive industry, having worked
in lead design positions at Audi, Volkswagen and Škoda.
In 2012, he joined the Volvo Car Group as the Senior
Vice President at the Volvo Design Center in Gothenburg.
Since his arrival the design direction at
Volvo Cars has undergone an intense transformation. He guided the
creation of a new design language and the introduction of Volvo's
new scalable platform by developing a series of very succesful
concept cars. The Concept Estate, the
Concept Coupe and XC Coupe were all built in an
unprecedented strategy to wisely utilise the company's resources at
the time. These concept cars and the new XC90, S90 &
V90, Volvo's first production vehicles to embody a
truly fresh premium offer, have managed to steal the attention of
the automotive media as well as the industry itself, catapulting
the company to a role model position in design.
In his keynote Thomas shared some of the
controversial ideas, the special moments and decisions that were
important in this process of transformation. He also talked about
his visions for personal mobility in the years to come.
