Today’s skateboarders prefer to use thinner sneakers as they perform tricks with ever-increasing technical difficulty. However, these shoes are not constructed to withstand the wear and tear of the sport. This leads to riders having to change shoes frequently, creating more waste. Today’s shoes are composed of different materials glued together, making them difficult to separate for recycling. In this project, I developed a shoe built to withstand extensive wear. The goal is an environmentally friendly shoe constructed of recyclable materials while at the same time catering to the aesthetic and technical preferences of skateboarders today.
