Abstract

This project explores how one might make it easier for consumers in a physical grocery store to obtain and understand information regarding health and the environment of different goods. Through close collaboration with users, relevant market acteurs and with the support from active designers and strategists, the project has resulted in an updated interactive system placed in already existing scanners at the grocery store.

Inspiration and Method

The biggest inspiration for this project has been the users. In the end, they are the ones who will use my solution. They are the ones who can make a difference.

Of course there has been a lot of research and idea generation, but what has been of most value has been the users input. From simple surveys, talking to people in the grocery store, workshops and making them think about their beliefs and their actions through cultural probes. And then of course a lot of feedback and validation.

In the end, this resulted in something that the users both wanted and would use.

Result

The project resulted in a system placed in the stores already existing self-scanners. Providing customers with information in an easy, comprehensive and accessible way that facilitates sustainable decisions and prepares the user to transition to phones in the future.
