The product of this degree work evolved into an autonomous robot delivery vehicle that explores new ways of channelling communal cooperation and current advancements in technology. It is called the “Bi Xi” inspired by one of the nine sons of the Dragon King and embodies confidence, mission for prosperity and encouragement of unity. It is a concept designed around Chinese Community Group Buying and aims to forecast a future within the budding ecosystem, that promotes convenience, the entrepreneurial spirit and environmental consciousness of the people involved.
The Bi Xi concept creates the potential for several new opportunities within the ecosystem of community group buying. By managing on-the-go sorting, Bi Xi benefits suppliers by allowing high inventory turnover, quicker dispatch times and minimal storage needs. On the other end, the community leaders are saved the trouble of sorting individual orders and can focus on higher value activities and quality of service.
Considering a quickly aging population and growing e-commerce trends, the Bi Xi is an autonomous robot delivery vehicle that forecasts a highly automated supply chain, where menial and exploitative jobs are reduced allowing for more diverse jobs to take root.
The multidirectional nature of the concept promotes a circular economy and invites suppliers and other waste producers to take responsibility, as well as capitalise on the handling of recyclables. A notion that seems prospectively beneficial considering China’s reforms concerning recycling and waste management, including more stringent regulations on company responsibilities and accountability.
